What is Quickteller Remit?
Quickteller Remit is a money transfer app from Interswitch. It lets you send money from the UK to Nigeria, and pay Nigerian bills directly, from your phone. You fund a wallet in pounds, and your family or friends receive naira straight into their bank account or mobile wallet, usually within minutes.
What can I use this app for?
The app helps people living in the UK send money to Nigeria quickly, safely and with confidence. You can use it to support family and friends, pay bills back home, handle urgent financial needs, and make everyday payments directly to Nigerian bank accounts or wallets.
Who can use the app right now?
At launch, the app is available to customers sending money from the United Kingdom to Nigeria. We plan to expand to additional countries and corridors over time.
Which currencies are supported?
Sending currency: British Pounds (GBP). Receiving currency: Nigerian Naira (NGN). Additional currencies will be added as new corridors become available.
Is the app safe and regulated?
Yes. Quickteller Remit is provided by Interswitch in partnership with Equals Money Plc, our regulated payments partner. The regulated payment services behind the app are provided under Equals Money Plc's FCA permission, and you can check its authorisation for yourself on the FCA Register using the Firm Reference Number shown below. In practice, this means Interswitch provides and runs the Quickteller Remit app and is your day-to-day point of contact, while the regulated payment services, and the safeguarding of your money, sit with Equals Money Plc under its FCA permission. You do not need to hold an account with Equals Money Plc or contact them directly, please come to us and we will handle it.
How do I create an account?
Download the app (Quickteller Remit) from the App Store or Google Play Store, sign up using your email address and phone number, complete identity verification (KYC), receive your UK account details for funding your wallet, then fund your wallet and start sending money. You can begin sending money once setup and verification are complete.
Why do I need to verify my identity?
Identity verification is required by financial regulations and FCA guidelines. It helps prevent fraud and financial crime, keeps your account secure, and unlocks higher transaction limits and full app features.
What documents will I need to verify my identity?
You will need one valid, unexpired proof of identity and, where required, one recent proof of address. Proof of identity, one of: passport, UK photo driving license, national photo identity card, or UK residence permit. Proof of address, one document issued within the last three months: utility bill, bank statement, credit card statement, council tax bill, lease or rental agreement, or other eligible government-issued documents. Requirements may vary depending on your profile and our regulatory obligations.
What personal information do I need to provide when registering?
Full name (including any middle names), date of birth, nationality, and residential address.
How long does it take to open my account?
Most accounts are opened and verified within minutes, and you can start sending straight away. Sometimes an application needs a quick manual review by a member of our team, for example to confirm a proof of address document, or where details need checking by hand. These reviews are carried out during working hours. If your application needs a manual review and you applied after 3:00pm on a Friday, over a weekend, or on a public holiday, our team will complete it by the next working day. Nothing is wrong, and you do not need to reapply or send your documents again, we will notify you as soon as your account is ready.
How can I avoid a delay in getting verified?
Make sure your document photo is sharp and fully in frame, with nothing cut off or hidden by glare, and check that the details you typed match your document exactly. Most manual reviews are triggered by a document that cannot be read clearly. If your account has not been opened after one working day, please contact us and we will look into it.
Does it cost anything to open an account?
No. Creating and maintaining an account is free. Transaction fees may apply only when you use specific services, such as sending money.
I am not a UK citizen. Can I still open an account?
Yes. As long as you are legally resident in the UK and can provide acceptable identification and proof of address, you may be able to open an account, subject to regulatory checks.
Can I have more than one account?
No. Each customer may hold only one personal account linked to their verified identity.
What should I do if I cannot complete my registration?
First, check whether your application is simply waiting on a review rather than being stuck. If you have submitted everything and are waiting, manual reviews are completed during working hours, and by the next working day if you applied over a weekend or public holiday, you do not need to start again. If you cannot get through the process at all, check your internet connection, confirm your documents are valid and not expired, and make sure your details exactly match those on your documents. If the problem continues, contact us using any of the channels at the end of this document.
How do I fund my wallet?
Open the app, go to your bank app, use your assigned UK account number and sort code shown in the app, and transfer funds from your UK bank account. Additional funding methods may be introduced in future releases.
Are there fees for funding my wallet?
We do not charge you to fund your wallet, but your own bank may apply a charge for the transfer. Any fees we charge will always be displayed before you confirm a transaction.
My bank blocked or queried my payment. What should I do?
Banks sometimes hold or query a first payment to a provider you have not paid before. This is your bank's own security check, not a problem with your Quickteller Remit account. Approve the payment in your banking app, or call your bank to confirm it is genuine, and then try again. If your bank asks why you are making the payment, tell them the truth, you are funding your own account to send money to family.
How long does it take for money to reflect in my wallet?
Wallet funding usually reflects within minutes. Processing times can vary depending on your bank.
Whose account details am I funding when I add money?
The UK account number and sort code shown in your app are issued through Equals Money Plc, our regulated payments partner, and are assigned to you for funding your Quickteller Remit wallet. They are your details to use, so you can set them up as a payee with your bank in the normal way. You may see Equals Money referenced by your bank when you make the transfer. This is expected and does not mean anything is wrong.
How do I send money from the UK to Nigeria?
Log in to the app, select Send Money, enter your beneficiary's details, enter the amount in GBP, review the fee, exchange rate and payout amount, then confirm the transfer.
What details do I need to send money to someone in Nigeria?
You need your beneficiary's 10-digit Nigerian bank account number (NUBAN) and the name of their bank. For a mobile wallet, you need the registered wallet number. You do not need their address or any documents.
Should I check the beneficiary name before I confirm?
Yes, always. When you enter an account number, we look up and display the account holder's name before you confirm. Check that it matches the person you intend to pay. This is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself. If the name shown is not who you expect, stop and check with your beneficiary directly before continuing. Once money has been paid into an account, it is very difficult to recover.
Can I schedule or repeat transfers?
Where available, you can schedule a future transfer or set up a recurring transfer. These options appear during the transfer process when enabled.
Can I cancel a transfer after I have sent it?
Check the app for status and contact us immediately if you need help. Once a transfer has been paid out, it cannot be reversed.
Can I send US dollars, or send to a domiciliary account?
At launch, we send pounds from the UK and pay out in naira to Nigerian bank accounts and supported mobile wallets. Foreign-currency payouts, including to domiciliary accounts, are not available. Additional payout corridors may be introduced in future releases.
Can I send money from Nigeria to the UK?
Not at the moment. The app currently supports sending only from the UK to Nigeria. We plan to add more corridors over time.
Can my beneficiary collect the money as cash?
No. Money is paid directly into a Nigerian bank account or a supported mobile wallet. We do not offer cash pickup.
How long does it take for money to arrive in Nigeria?
Most transfers are completed within minutes. Occasionally, a transfer takes longer because of bank processing times, network issues, or an additional compliance or security check. You can track the status of any transfer in the app at any time.
Can a transfer ever be held for a check?
Occasionally. Most transfers are completed within minutes, but a small number are held briefly for a routine compliance check, usually on larger or less typical amounts. If a check needs a member of our team to review it, that happens during working hours, and the same timing rules as account setup apply.
Are there limits on how much I can send?
Yes. Transaction limits are set by regulatory and anti-money laundering requirements. Fully verified customers benefit from higher limits. Your current limits are shown in the app.
Why have you asked me about the source of my funds?
For larger or less typical transfers, we may ask where the money came from, for example, a payslip, a sale, or savings. This is a standard regulatory requirement that applies across the industry, and it is not a suggestion that anything is wrong. Providing the information promptly is usually all that is needed to release the transfer.
How much does it cost to send money?
It is currently free. Fees may be introduced in future releases. Any fee will be calculated automatically and displayed before you confirm, so you always see the total cost upfront.
What exchange rate will I get?
We offer favourable exchange rates based on prevailing market conditions. The rate is displayed before you confirm, so you always know exactly how much your beneficiary will receive in Naira.
Why is your rate different from the one I saw on Google?
The rate shown on Google or a currency website is a reference rate. Our rate is very close to it, with a small margin that covers the cost of moving your money. What matters is the naira figure we show you before you confirm, that is exactly what your beneficiary will receive, and it will not change afterward.
Can I lock in an exchange rate?
Where available, the exchange rate may be held for a limited period while you complete your transfer. A timer or notification appears when this applies.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. Every fee we charge and the exchange rate we apply are shown before you confirm your transfer. Please note that your own bank may charge you separately for funding your wallet, and in rare cases, a beneficiary's bank may apply its own charge. These are outside our control.
How can beneficiaries receive money?
Beneficiaries can receive funds by direct bank deposit or, where supported, into a mobile wallet. Additional payout methods may be introduced over time.
Does the person receiving the money need the app?
No. Your beneficiary does not need to download anything or create an account. They only need a valid Nigerian bank account or a supported mobile wallet, and the money arrives directly.
Are beneficiaries charged any fees?
No. All applicable fees are paid by the sender, and your beneficiary receives the full Naira amount shown to you before you confirm the transfer.
Which banks and wallets in Nigeria are supported?
We support all major Nigerian banks and selected mobile wallets. The available options are displayed when you select or add a beneficiary.
What happens if the beneficiary's bank rejects the payment?
If a payout is rejected, for example, because an account is dormant, closed, or the details do not match, the funds are returned to your wallet, and you will be notified. You can then correct the details and try again.
How do I know my money is safe?
We use real-time transaction monitoring, anti-money laundering controls, fraud prevention measures, and encryption with secure authentication. These controls align with FCA requirements and international best practice, and they are operated alongside Equals Money Plc, our regulated payments partner, whose safeguarding and compliance framework sits behind the service.
What happens to my money if something happens to the company?
Money you hold in your Quickteller Remit wallet is held in a payment account with Equals Money Plc, our regulated payments partner. The money in the payment accounts held with Equals Money Plc is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Instead, your money is protected by safeguarding, relevant funds are kept in specifically designated safeguarding accounts with Tier 1 banks in the UK, separate from Equals Money Plc's own funds, in line with the Payment Services Regulations 2017. Neither Equals Money Plc nor the Tier 1 banks have any claim over that money for anything owed to them. Equals Money Plc is a payment institution rather than a bank. FSCS protection covers deposits held with UK banks and building societies, so it does not apply here. Safeguarding is the protection that applies instead.
Someone has asked me to send them money. How do I know it is genuine?
Please be careful. Most money lost to fraud is lost when someone is persuaded to make a payment themselves, not when an account is hacked. Be wary of anyone you have only met online, even if you have been talking for a long time. Be wary of urgency, secrecy, or pressure to send quickly, this is the most reliable warning sign. Be wary of unexpected investment, job, loan, or romance opportunities. If someone contacts you claiming to be from Quickteller Remit or your bank and asks you to move money, stop, we will never ask you to do this. If you are unsure, contact us before you send. Once money has been paid out, it is very difficult to recover.
How do I keep my account secure?
Never share your PIN, password or one-time codes with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from our support team, we will never ask for them. Use a PIN that is not easy to guess and change it if you think anyone has seen it. Keep the app updated and lock your device with a passcode or biometrics. Log out of any device you no longer use.
How do you protect my personal data?
We use strong encryption and strict access controls. Your personal data is processed in line with applicable privacy and data protection regulations.
What information does the app access on my phone?
The app only requests the permissions it needs to work, for example, your camera to capture documents during verification, and notifications to keep you updated on your transfers. You can review and change permissions in your device settings at any time.
Where is my money held before it is sent?
When you fund your wallet, your money is held in a payment account with Equals Money Plc, our regulated payments partner, until you send it. It is not covered by the FSCS. Instead, it is protected via a safeguarding method in accordance with the Payment Services Regulations 2017, held in specially designated, safeguarded bank accounts with Tier 1 banks, and kept separate from both Interswitch's and Equals Money Plc's own funds. This means the money remains yours at all times, and it is only moved when you instruct a transfer or a bill payment.
How can I track my transfer?
You can view the status of any transfer in your Transaction History and receive real-time notifications. Status updates include: Sent, Processing, Reversed, Successful, and Failed.
What if I enter incorrect beneficiary details?
Beneficiary account details are validated where possible before a transfer is made. If you spot an error, do not proceed with the transaction; contact the beneficiary to share the correct account information.
What happens if a transfer is delayed or fails?
If your transfer is delayed, check the status in the app and contact us if you need help. If your transfer fails, the funds are returned to your wallet, and you will be notified.
What should I do if I suspect fraud or unauthorised activity?
Act immediately, log out of active sessions, change your password or PIN, and contact us straight away using any channel listed at the end of this document. We may temporarily restrict your account while we investigate. This is to protect your money.
Why was my account restricted or locked?
This can happen because of suspicious activity on the account, incomplete verification, or a regulatory review. Contact us, and we will help you resolve it.
I cannot log in to my account. What should I do?
Check your internet connection, make sure the app is updated to the latest version, and use the Forgot Password or Reset PIN option. If the problem continues, contact us.
