A word from Mitchell: Compliments of the Season!
Compliments of the Season! As the year gradually winds to a close, and a new one begins, it presents an opportunity, for us as individuals and as an organization, to look back on the outgoing year with deep introspection and gratitude. It is also a time to look ahead with hope and excitement at the promise of a new year and a fresh start. Across the globe, the past year, like the one before it, was fraught with challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, for us at Interswitch, the year was a lesson in tenacity, resilience, and adaptability as we lived and worked through a pandemic with ripple effects on the economy and the business environment. Despite the challenges, we continued to brave the odds, spurred on by our commitment to enable a prosperous Africa, driven by a seamless exchange of value and commerce. During the year, Interswitch Group recorded many great feats. And for this, I acknowledge and appreciate the cumulative efforts of our employees, partners, and various stakeholders. I salute your unwavering commitment, passion, and focus on delivering on our collective goals. Across the world, digital adoption has grown tremendously across verticals. Businesses and consumers have become more reliant on technology and are strongly embracing the fast-paced transition towards a more digitized world. Hence, there is high potential for exponential growth and expansion across sectors, in tandem with rapidly evolving consumer needs. An analysis of the business environment will reveal the vast economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Organizations that will survive these times are those that remain innovative and nimble enough to anticipate and respond to evolving customer demands amidst our rapidly changing world. These are some of the underpinning factors that guide our business, as current realities demand that we continuously assess and re-assess our processes and way of work. Some of our key highlights during the year include the introduction of a new Group Strategy and a refresh of our Corporate Values in a bid to establish a more efficient workforce. We realized over the years, that our communal success is directly impacted by our team’s commitment and alignment to our overarching objectives and corporate values. Looking ahead into 2022, it is clear that the ‘new’ normal is no longer new, and that the pandemic is still an ongoing threat. Therefore, those lessons that got us through 2020 and 2021 must remain with us as we move on into the new year. No doubt, regardless of what the new year brings, we must remain focused on raising the bar in all aspects of our endeavors. This edition of ‘The Switch’ newsletter succinctly captures Interswitch Group’s journey through the last quarter and chronicles some of the highlights of the year as we close out 2021. I hope you enjoy reading this edition, as you have previous ones. Season’s Greetings!Mitchell Elegbe Founder/ GMD, Interswitch Group
