Built for What's Next

A Word from Mitchell - Built for What's Next

As I look back on our 23+ years of corporate existence, I realise that every financial year tells a story of progress, lessons, resilience, and renewed ambition. The just-concluded financial year was no different. Yet, as we look back on what we accomplished in the 2025/2026 financial year, it is clear that our greatest advantage lies not only in what we have built, but in our readiness for what comes next. This edition’s theme, ‘Built for What’s Next,’ reflects our belief that the work we do today is not an end in itself. Each innovation we launch, each strategic partnership we forge, and every system we strengthen is a deliberate step toward shaping the future of Africa’s digital economy. Over the years, Interswitch has grown from a pioneering payments infrastructure provider into a technology company whose solutions power critical interactions across the continent. This progress has not happened by chance. It is the result of a long-term strategy anchored on innovation, disciplined execution, and an unwavering commitment to building platforms that scale. As the fintech landscape continues to evolve rapidly, these principles remain our compass. During the past financial year, we continued to strengthen the foundations that will support our next phase of growth by deepening strategic partnerships that expand the reach and relevance of our solutions. Collaboration has always been at the heart of our growth story; exemplified this last quarter by our global certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), placing Quickteller Travel among a network of trusted and accredited travel service providers worldwide; and our partnerships with Centenary Bank, Salaam Bank, and Tropical Bank in Uganda for the Jaguza Ne Quickteller Campaign. In Nigeria, we continued the big strides in advancing the public-sector health digitisation agenda, this time in Abia State, through the phased deployment of eClinic, our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform, amongst others. In Kenya, the acceptance of Verve Card across KCB ATMs and select merchant locations has helped empower many more people to transact easily with their Verve Cards outside the shores of Nigeria. By working closely with financial institutions, governments, merchants, developers, and global partners, we continue to unlock new opportunities, address shared challenges, and create solutions that extend far beyond the boundaries of any single organisation. Innovation also continues to define our journey. Across the Group, our teams are constantly reimagining how technology can simplify transactions, empower businesses, and improve everyday experiences for millions of people. Through focused Innovation Demo Days, and the immersive Technovation 4.0 Hackathon that birthed many viable MVPs and new enhancements across our platforms, we are strengthening our ability to deliver solutions that meet the needs of today while anticipating the demands of tomorrow. What gives me the greatest confidence as we step into the new financial year, however, is not only the strength of our technology or the depth of our partnerships; it is also the people who bring our vision to life every day. The creativity, strategic thinking, and dedication of our colleagues across every part of the organisation form the engine that powers Interswitch’s continued evolution. The fintech landscape we operate in is dynamic and constantly shifting. New technologies emerge, customer expectations rise, regulatory frameworks evolve, and competitive pressures intensify. Based on empirical data and in-depth research over the course of the last calendar year, our flagship ‘State of UX in Financial Apps: Nigeria 2025 Report’ spotlights the challenges and gaps many institutions face and presents tried and tested techniques to scale despite shifting industry dynamics. A clear testament to the tremendous opportunity that can be found even amid complexity. Africa’s digital economy continues to expand, and the need for reliable, innovative, and inclusive financial infrastructure has never been greater. As you read through this edition of our newsletter, you will note many examples of this forward-thinking mindset in action. The stories captured here reflect an organisation that is continuously learning, building, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. The road ahead will undoubtedly bring new challenges, but it will also bring new opportunities to innovate, to collaborate, and to create lasting value for the communities we serve. Because everything we have built so far has been designed with the future in mind. And we remain true to our commitment to Never Stop.
