Let’s be honest: life can feel a lot. Deadlines pile up. The news cycle doesn’t stop. Social media makes us feel like we’re always behind. Add family responsibilities, money worries, or even unexpected emergencies, and suddenly, you’re carrying more than your brain and body can hold.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m exhausted, but I can’t slow down,” or “I don’t even know why I’m anxious, I just am,” you’re not alone.

That’s why, for this series of Switch Story, World Mental Health Day Edition, we’re creating space for one simple question: Am I feeling overwhelmed? And because most of us need a little nudge to reflect, here’s a quick quiz you can take in under two minutes.

Check in to know if you are overwhelmed.

(Disclaimer: This is not medical advice, just a quick self-check to help you reflect. If you feel you need help, please reach out to a qualified mental-health professional.)

Instructions: Tick the option that feels the most like you right now.

1. Sleep check

A. I usually get 6–8 hours and wake up rested.

B. I sleep but wake up tired or restless.

C. I barely sleep; my mind is always racing.

2. Focus mode

A. I can get work done with minor distractions.

B. I keep losing track and struggle to finish tasks.

C. I feel paralyzed; even small tasks feel huge.

3. Energy levels

A. I have energy most days.

B. I feel drained by midday.

C. I’m running on empty almost all the time.

4. Emotional balance

A. I feel stressed sometimes, but I bounce back.

B. I get irritable or sad more often than I’d like.

C. I feel anxious, hopeless, or on edge almost daily.

5. Social battery

A. I enjoy connecting and still make time for people.

B. I avoid calls or hangouts because I’m too tired.

C. I’ve completely withdrawn; even family feels overwhelming.

Results

Mostly A’s – You’re Managing but Stay Aware. You might be handling things well right now, but stress is sneaky. Keep your routines healthy: rest, movement, connection, and breaks from screens.

Mostly B’s – Overload in Progress. Your mind and body are sending signals. It may not be a full burnout, but you’re close. Talk to someone you trust, cut back where possible, and speak to a mental health professional.

Mostly C’s – Time to Reach Out. You’re carrying more than you should alone. Please, don’t ignore it. Talk to a friend, a counsellor, or a mental health professional. Reaching out isn’t a weakness; it’s a survival strategy.

This year’s World Mental Health Day theme is about access to mental health in times of crisis and emergency. But here’s the truth: while not everyone is in a warzone or natural disaster, being overwhelmed itself can feel like an emergency.

The bigger lesson? Access matters for all of us. Whether you’re an employee struggling quietly at your desk or a community recovering from disaster, everyone deserves the right access to support.

At Interswitch, we believe mental health isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s part of how we work, live, and connect. That’s why we’re sharing this small quiz to help you check in with yourself. Because checking in is the first step to reaching out.

What You Can Do Next

  • Pause — Take ten deep breaths, stretch, drink water.

  • Connect — Call a friend, colleague, or family member today.

  • Seek support — If you’re struggling, speak to a professional.

  • Advocate — Share this post, start a conversation. Normalizing mental health talk helps everyone.

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means you’re human. So today, take a moment. Check in with yourself. And remember: no matter how heavy life gets, you deserve love and support.

Happy World Mental Health Day
